Data Usage Policy

Privacy Policy

This website gathers some data every time you visit as a necessary precaution against possible Denial of Service attacks. The following data is collected:

  • Your IPv4 or IPv6 address and the network port you made the request from.
  • The target IPv4 or IPv6 address and the network port you made the request from.
  • Short term SSL and TLS data for ensuring fast HTTPS transfers.
  • Any data you submitted by registering or logging in, such as username, email, time, name, hashed password, and other things.

What is this data used for?

The IPv4 and IPv6 address data is used to track excessive connections in order to prevent downtime. This data is deleted after a week automatically, and usually does not contain any identifyable data.

As for the SSL and TLS data is used to perform HTTPS transfers and does not last longer than one hour. It is automatically removed as soon as the last connection from your Browser to this website is closed.

Finally the data you submitted by registering is only used for the account system, comments, and newsletters. You can opt out of these features by not registering with the blog. Registering is only required if you wish to leave comments below posts.

How do I delete my account?

Shoot me an e-mail to info AT xaymar DOT com with as much information as possible about the account. At minimum I will need the e-mail and username used to register the account, and ideally you should be sending me that e-mail from the e-mail address used to register the account.

Please clearly mark your deletion request with a subject line, such as “GDPR RIGHT TO FORGET” so that I do not miss it. Unfortunately I get a lot of unwanted e-mails (for example from Netflix), which means that I might miss your e-mail unless you tag it properly.

Cookie Policy

This website uses Cookies – small text files stored on your device – in order to tell apart certain per-user states, such as logging in or on which virtual page in a document you currently are.

These are fully optional and can be disabled without affecting the behavior too much. If you do not know how to disable cookies, consult the Help section of your browser, or take a look at the About Cookies website.
